David K. "Dave" Sorenson's Obituary
David K. “Dave” Sorenson, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born on April 29, 1956, to William and Mary “Alice” (Johnson) Sorenson in Muskegon, Michigan, where he remained a lifelong resident. Dave graduated from Mona Shores High School, Class of 1975. On July 16, 1988, he married the love of his life, Tami Simons. Together, they shared 37 years filled with endless love, laughter, and adventure. Dave was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent many years employed at Trinity before continuing his career at Nichols, where he specialized in maintenance and took great pride in his work until his retirement. Retirement, however, did not slow him down. He went on to work alongside Tami at Flowers by Ray & Sharon, becoming a familiar and friendly face in the community while delivering flowers. A man of deep faith, Dave was a longtime member of Christ Community Congregational Church, Westwood Reformed Church and most recently a partner at Jericho Road Church. He was a devoted believer in his Lord and Savior and found great comfort in his faith, knowing he now rests peacefully in His arms. Dave found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved game nights and spending time throwing darts with friends, often with a cold beverage in hand. He had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed camping and being in the woods. Known for always tinkering or “fixing” something, Dave had a playful sense of humor—especially when it came to his version of “fishing,” often without the fish. He will be remembered for his radiant smile, contagious laugh, his kind and generous heart, and the way he made sure those around him knew they were LOVED beyond measure. He was known for his love of music, whether he was listening or singing. Dave often created his own “jams,” complete with choreographed dance moves that brought smiles to those around him. His outgoing and vivacious personality lives on in his daughter. Dave touched many lives over the years and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Tami Sorenson; daughter, Kimberly Sorenson; two brothers, Rolly Sorenson and Jim (Karen) Sorenson; special nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Laurita “Mom” Simons; dear friends; beloved “Framily”; and protector and man’s best friend, Stanley. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill (Carol) Sorenson; two sisters-in-law, Joretta Sorenson and Irene Sorenson. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Jericho Road Church, 930 Creston St., Muskegon, MI 49442 with visitation one-hour prior at church. Memorial Contributions in Dave’s honor can be directed to Jericho Road Church. He will be laid to rest at Laketon Township Cemetery.
