Della M. Karel's Obituary
Della M. Karel, age 87, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Hudsonville. She was born on June 23, 1934 in Muskegon to Peter and Myrth (Briggs) Zuidema and resided her entire life in the area. Della was a member of Anchor Point Church (formerly Berean) where she belonged to their Joy Circle, sang in the choir, assisted on the funeral committee, and was a Sunday School teacher for the little ones for 25 years. Della enjoyed golfing, traveling and reading, but her family was always the most important thing in her life. She worked as a talented seamstress for over 50 years. On April 10, 1954, she married Harry Karel and spent 67 years together before Harry preceded her in death on July 18, 2021. SURVIVORS include three children, Kathryn (Dr. Paul) Sweet of Hudsonville, Thomas (Carol) Karel of Ravenna, and Greg (Jennifer) Karel of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Megan (Ryan) Heller, Amy (Kevin) Pruitt, Jason (Christina) Karel; and Samantha Karel; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Herbert (Norma) Zuidema; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Della was also preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Gilbert and Doris Borgman. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Anchor Point Church (635 Seminole Rd) with Dr. Rob Renberg officiating.
