Dena Bolt, age 98, of Fruitport, MI, passed away October 17, 2020. She was born May 26, 1922 in Wheatland, North Dakota to Henry and Matie (Aanen) Verhoek. Dena left South Dakota in 1940 and came to Michigan where she met her husb Read Obituary
Dena was an inspiration to the young ladies at church. Her smile was contagious, she always looked her best. She was young at heart and won the love of many by the light of her faith and sweet spirit.

My heartfelt sympathy & prayers to the family, friends, and neighbors of Dena. She lived next door to Bob and I in Fruitport. Dena became a dear friend to my husband & I. We shared many homemade dishes and desserts over the years. Often there would be ‘surprises’ left on our front door step from her flowerbeds. These cuttings enhanced our landscape. Bob and I so appreciated Denas faith, energy and opinions. For me personally, Dena was inspirational with her beautiful smile, wardrobe, makeup, and generous spirit.

Dear Coral, Scott, Teresa, Jason, JJ, Coral and families; Your mom and grandma held a very special place in my heart. She holds the honor of the only person to have punched me (in the face) and she did this at about 86 years old. She landed quite the punch while showing me how she was boxing on the Wii. Every time I saw her I asked her if she was going to punch me again. You can imagine the look on other people’s faces if they overheard this question or if she reassured them she wouldn’t punch them. She was so full of life and determination and she loved each of you dearly. I will be the lucky one if I am able to touch others as she touched me and if I am able to live life as fully. Enjoyed visiting with your mother, and the stories she shared.
One visit she told me they had lived above Waalke's grocery in Wyoming, Mil, now whenever I go by there I think of her, as I do in the several areas the family lived over the years. Sad to see those of her generation pass, leaves so few to ask the questions of the past. She will be missed. Dale Dykhouse.

It is with a heavy heart that I pen this note to you all. I have fond memories of Grandma Bolt, her personality, her smile, her infectious laugh. What a beautiful soul, what a tremendous legacy, what a huge loss. Age doesn’t really matter, a person’s qualities, are irreplaceable. She for real was a total genuine class act. Please consider these words from Philippians 1:20-21, I eagerly expect and hope that I will no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or death.
