Dennis Jeffrey "Jeff" Carter's Obituary
Mr. Dennis Jeffrey “Jeff” Carter, age 46, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 of a heart attack. He was born February 22, 1960 and graduated from Fruitport High School in 1978. He was graduated from Ferris State University with highest distinction and from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University summa cum laude, where he was a member of the Law Review. He was a former partner of the law firm of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn of Detroit, Michigan and a Certified Public Accountant. In 1993, he moved to Racine, Wisconsin. He was an international and transactional tax professional serving as Regional Tax Counsel for S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc. and Vice President, Corporate Tax at Johnson Diversey, Inc. He recently became Vice President, Global Tax and General Tax Counsel at Case-New Holland Global at Racine, Wisconsin. Jeff was an avid golfer, scuba diver, Packer fan and more importantly, he was a loving partner, adoring father and cherished son, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by Alisa Swire and their three year old daughter, Mya of Racine, WI; his parents, Joyce and Myron Carter and his sister, Kim Averill of Muskegon; three nieces, Anjie (Barry) Klecka, Dawn (Torry) Hughes of Kentwood and Shanna Averill of Muskegon; a great-nephew and step-grandmother. His younger brother, Michael preceded him in death in 1990. A MEMORIAL SERVICE was held Monday, August 15, 2005 at St. Johns Chapel in Racine, WI. A VISITATION will be held in Muskegon on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 from 6-8 PM at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565. INTERMENT will take place at Norton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in Jeff’s memory to the Michigan State University College of Law.
