As a Freshman at Orchard View High School I participated in a speech competition. When I came to the podium in front of the entire student body, my memory went blank. I barely knew then Ms. Monnette, but she found me after school and shared a personal story of a piano recital gone bad. It conforted me greatly. That was in 1962 and I have never forgotten her kindness.
When I first met Diane I found her to be formidable! As I spent more time with her I discovered a delightfully wry sense of humor and a desire to put people at ease. She led the way for women in leadership at St. Thomas and that faith community owes her a debt of gratitude for her many contributions. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her family, in this difficult time. Susan Vallie
Diane was a high school classmate of mine, friend for life and the godmother of my first child. She was smart, giving and willing to help whenever called upon. She was a part of uniquely formed family that set the example of family life for all to see. She set examples of grace and community service and devoted herself to her family and friends. In times of need she was a concerned councel and smart with her advice and cautious with her recommendations. I think she was this way in high school and never changed her values and dedication to the basic principles she learned in her early youth. Her last years were not all pleasant due to failing health. She will be missed, but her examples of courage and dedication to family will be remembered for years. May God bless Diane and her family for what they have brought to othersl in the community.

And she was a blessing to me all those summers when we were young. I still won't touch beef tongue! I am so saddened to hear of your loss. Sending hugs to all of you. --- Nicole McKinney Neal
