Dolores Ann DeBoef's Obituary
With a deep ache in our heart, we share the news of Dolores DeBoef passing on 12/30/2020, one month before her 91st birthday. She was born January 29, 1930. Dee is known for her bright smile, petite stature, quick wit, generosity, strong faith and fun-loving spirit. She graduated from Muskegon Heights high school in 1948. She met her second husband, Robert DeBoef, in Muskegon and together lived for many years in San Diego. Dee worked as an executive secretary at General Dynamics until her retirement. She returned to Muskegon after she retired to be closer to her remaining family members.
Dee enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Dee most enjoyed watching the sky and spotting jet trails, stars, and planets. She was a proud member of VFW Post 8846 where she volunteered for many years. She met Marty Shields and they shared a life together for 15 years.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Janine) Churchill, granddaughter Ashley (Ryan) Buckley, and great grandchildren Blake and Cameron all in San Diego. She is also survived by her partner of 15 years, Marty Shields of Muskegon, her Aunt Mary (Carl) Houseman and stepchildren Terri Cummins, Christie (Randy) Westrate, Sherri (Brian) Chandler, and Mike (Lu) DeBoef. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and her grandson Michael Churchill in 2019.
A celebration of Dee's life will be scheduled for Summer 2021 as permitted by Covid-19 restrictions.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. DeBoef may be made to the Don Rea VFW Post #8846 in North Muskegon. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
