Mr. Donald J. DeLong's Obituary
Donald Joe DeLong, age 67, died at his home on Monday afternoon, October 28, 2013. He was born June 23, 1946 in Muskegon to Henry and Elizabeth (Bomers) DeLong, Jr.; and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Don was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. He was a Licensed Funeral Director in the area for over 20 years. Previous to obtaining his Mortuary Science License, Don had founded DeLong Ambulance Service, which later merged with Professional Ambulance. On August 14, 1970, he married the former Pamela M. Brown and she survives him along with their two children, Jeff (Sarah) DeLong of Kalamazoo and Stefanie (Mark) Sweany of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren: Rebekah and Drew Sweany and Brianna and Natalie DeLong; 3 brothers, “Butch” (Lois) DeLong, Craig DeLong and Brad (Chris) DeLong; 2 sisters, Sandra (Gordon) Wolffis and Shelli (Alan) Lintjer. Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sherri DeLong. A SERVICE CELEBRATING Don’s life will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with the Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. VISITATION with Don’s family will be 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444, 231-798-1100. Interment will be in East Dalton-Oakhill Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Laketon Bethel Church will be appreciated.
