Mr. Donald G. Munster's Obituary
Mr. Donald G. “Don” “Coach” Munster, age 64, passed away Monday evening, July 9, 2012. He was born June 2, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to Richard and Louise (Marheineke) Munster. He graduated from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. Don married Karen Jekel on August 21, 1970 at the Basilica of St. Louis, King of France, “the Old Cathedral”. At his parish, St. Mary of Spring Lake, this humble and faith-filled servant, loyally served on the Parish Council, captained his Ushering team, as well as the Grounds and Maintenance Committee. Those fortunate to have encountered Don in this life include: the 8th grade football program at SLMS and employees of ITT Blackburn, Elastodyne, Commercial Manufacturing and Assembly, and Integricoat. Don is lovingly survived by his best friend and wife, Karen; sons, Tim (Pam, Lexi and Olivia), Steven; daughters, Beth (Chris, Charlie and Natalie) Chappus, Katie (Mark Sluiter), and Karrie; brothers, Richard (Cathy), Tom (Fran); sisters, Mary (Mike) Knoke, Susan (Paul) Schulte; 7 brothers-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews and their families. He will be welcomed home by his parents; our son, Mark; niece, Kailyn; and nephew, Greg. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Daniel R. DePew presiding. Burial will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100, with the Chaplet of the Rosary at 5:00 PM. There will also be visitation at the church Friday morning one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred or a donation to Autism Speaks, Covenant House, or your local Hospice, would be a blessing. Thank you!
