We first met Pastor Don and Florence at the Twin Lake United Methodist Church about twenty years ago. They were both so very friendly and had such beautiful smiles. Little did we know that Don would one day be an important part of our five-person musical group - The Rhythm Wranglers. Don played upright string bass and sang harmony for our group for about five years. He not only did the wonderful job one would expect on our hymns and gospel numbers - he did a bang-up job on our country songs too! In all that time we never saw him be anything other than upbeat and cheerful - and of course, ready to tell a story. : ) It was always a joy for him and Florence to come over to the house for practice. We pray God's blessings and peace for Florence, Diana and Alex. They had a husband, father and grandfather who loved them and was very, very proud of them.

And the Vuurens musical legacy continues.......

The Eichorst family want to express our deepest sympathy to the Vuurens family in the loss of Donald. We know him from Forest Home Reformed Church where he was the pastor. When I called my brother Dennis to tell him, he said "of course he remembered his old fishing buddy," but neither of us could come to the memorial. I've been sick and he could not go because his wife is prepping for a medical test tomorrow. We both still have land line phones so we are listed in the frontier phonebook

I am so sorry to learn about Don's death. I remember good times when Don and Paul were students together at Western Seminary. This comes with sympathy and prayers to Florence and the Vuurens family.
