Donald K. Bustin's Obituary
Mr. Donald K. Bustin, age 72, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2004 at home with his family. He was born October 30, 1931 in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada to George and Anna (Kerr) Bustin and has lived in Muskegon since 1969. Mr. Bustin was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Nichols Paper Company for 23 years before his retirement in 1996. Mr. Bustin had been past President of the Muskegon Kiwanis Club, was a scout leader in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 1053, and volunteered for disaster relief in the American Red Cross. He was also an active member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church. On October 5, 1957, he married the former Lucie Marie Downer in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. She survives him along with 3 children: Martha (Michael) White of Beverly Hills, MI, Brian (Linda) Bustin of Camano Island, WA, Bruce (Jill) Bustin of West Olive, MI; 7 grandchildren: Michael and Brendan Bustin, Malia, Nicole, and Erica White, and Britt and Gunnar Guddall; sister-in-law, Jean Kern of Sarnia, Ontario; brother-in-law, Ira (Brenda) Downer of Petrolia, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Allen Bustin. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. William J. Fleener officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church Organ Fund, the Kiwanis of Michigan Foundation, or Hospice of Muskegon/Oceana.
