Doris M. Brondsema's Obituary
Doris M. Brondsema, age 101, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1924 in Muskegon to Edze and Henrietta (Trap) Langeland, and was a life resident of the area. Doris was a longtime member of Bethany Church, where she generously gave her time to many activities and events. She found joy in gardening, reading, knitting, and crossword puzzles. Over the past nine years at DaySpring Assisted Living, she formed many meaningful and lasting friendships.
On September 1, 1986, she married John Brondsema, and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1992. SURVIVORS include three children: Susan Rose, Jacqueline Fisher, and Peter (Cherri) Rose; nine grandchildren: Vicki (Greg) Sandberg, Chad (Heather) Ten Kate, Katrina (Darian) Wilson, Sara Fisher, Elisabeth Fisher and Jennifer (Vasant) Ninan, Dustin Rose, Tina Rose, Trevor (Clarie) Rose and Derek Rose; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; step-children: Paula Limburg, Dot (Cal) Hekman, Dianne Brondsema, Rose (Jim) Dekker, Dick (Valerie) Brondsema, Beth (Marvin) Hoekstra, Phil (Carol) Brondsema; step-grandchildren, Lisa (Zach) Weber, Heidi Limburg, Peggy Limburg, Deb Miller, Rich (Jodi) Hekman, Mark (Aliza) Hekman, John Brondsema, Laurel (Steve) Verburg, Erika (Tim) Dekker, Anna (Jason) Dekker, Jessica (Sean) Dekker, Michael (Tomoko) Brondsema, Sara Brondsema, Rachel (Nate) Hoekstra, Renee (Joe) Stubenrauch, Kristin (Ross) Hoekstra, Dave (Cherith) Brondsema, Emily (Ryder) Winck, Chloe (Chris) Paytas; 38 step great grandchildren and 6 step great-great grandchildren.
Doris was also preceded in death by her brother, Roger Langeland; great grandchild, Joel; and son-in-law, Tom Fisher; step son, Dave Brondsema, and step son-in-law, Peter Limburg.
Memorial Services for Doris will be 11 AM, Saturday May 23, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 PM Friday, May 22, 2026 also at The Lee Chapel. Memorial Contributions to World RENEW, Muskegon Christian School, or Western Michigan Christian High School in Doris’ name would be appreciated.
