Mrs. Doris May “Dorie Mae” Chartrand, age 96, passed away Friday morning, July 7, 2017, at her home. Doris was born August 3, 1920 in St. Louis, MO to Paul R. and Zita M. (Duisen) Danford. She was a 1938 graduate of Muskegon Heigh Read Obituary
My heart goes out to Kathy and all her family members. It wasn't until I was an adult that I understood what a strong person Doris was. It was a pleasure to know her growing up with one of her daughters as well as getting to know her when I became an adult.

I had planned to spend some time with Aunt Doris on my trip to Michigan in a couple of weeks. I will miss that special time. She was such a special part of my life. She and my mom were close and I know she missed my mom as much as I do. The last time I saw Aunt Doris (last summer during my trip to Michigan), we cried on each others shoulder as we remembered my mom. She can be happy now as she is with her sister and our Lord.
Much love to all of my cousins during this time of loss. Be happy as you think about your time with her. I know she loved each and every one of you from the bottom of her heart. What a very special lady.

Because of our dearest friends Kathryn and Maribeth, our family was able to meet this incredibly beautiful kindhearted woman ~
A mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to so many. She touched our hearts with her warm smile! Our friendship began then, and whether or not if she was visiting in San Diego or back home in Michigan, we kept in touch through the years especially at Christmas time and thru little notes here and there. I'll always remember her fondly ... especially that time she came out and spent an afternoon drinking wine in our garden while enjoying our plumerias and roses! During that same trip, we celebrated Kathy's birthday at the Cheesecake Factory and we got to enjoy a Manhattan with her, which was her favorite! I still have many of the gifts she made for me, she loved to crochet... I'll always treasure them! I'm hoping that she is enjoying a glass of wine with my sweet Daddy, (they were close in age) Kathy and I always wanted them to meet and enjoy wine together but they were never in San Diego at the same time!! She'll always have a special place in my heart ~ Thank you for sharing your precious Mom with us💗 We're sending you all of our love and heartfelt condolences and prayers 💖

"Aunt Doris" was such a big part of my life, always visiting our house and having a fun and wild time with my parents, Bill and Mary Dion. I will miss visiting her and sharing memories. She is a wonderful example of a loving wife, mother and friend. We can all only hope to live as happy and healthy a life as she did. Deepest sympathy to all of her beautiful family.

I had a special bond with my mom, she not only was my mom, but friend and confidant. She loved a good laugh and had a witty comeback that kept you on your toes. No surprise there, she did crossword puzzles daily and was an avid reader - keeping her wits about her until the very end. She continued to kick my butt in Scrabble at age 96! I was blessed to have her in my life for 62 years to love, spoil and learn from. Love you madly and miss you greatly.
