Mrs. Doris May Chartrand's Obituary
Mrs. Doris May “Dorie Mae” Chartrand, age 96, passed away Friday morning, July 7, 2017, at her home. Doris was born August 3, 1920 in St. Louis, MO to Paul R. and Zita M. (Duisen) Danford. She was a 1938 graduate of Muskegon Heights High School. Doris married Robert J. George on October 12, 1940, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1973. She then married Jean Chartrand in 1976 and he preceded her in death in 1990. Doris had been employed at Kaydon, Pyle Pattern, and Muskegon Community College throughout the years, along with being a wonderful homemaker, mother, and wife. She loved traveling; visiting all 50 states, most of them in a motorhome. Doris was an avid bridge and cribbage player, loved reading, crossword puzzles, and scrabble. She also enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching. Doris was blessed with 2 wonderful husbands, was loved and will be missed by many. She is survived by her children, Robert P. George of Muskegon Heights, Thomas W. George of Weldon, CA, Anne M. (Sam) Mollet of Kansas City, MO, David M. (Claudette) George of Muskegon, Michael L. (Lisa) George of N. Muskegon, Maribeth M. (Ed) Scharlach of Glendale, CA, Anthony J. (Dixie) George of Haughton, LA, Mark S. George of Grandview, MO, Eric J. (Joana) George of Boise, ID, and Kathryn L. George of San Diego, CA; son-in-law, Gary Johnson; 18 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, Robert and Jean, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia; sisters, Jean Meyers and Carol Ryder; and a brother, Paul Danford. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Friday, July 14, 2017 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 with Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11 AM). Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Kelly Catholic Center, Harbor Hospice Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
