Doug A. Chappell's Obituary
Mr. Douglas A. “Doug” Chappell, age 52, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012. He was born on March 24, 1960 in Grand Rapids to Ronald and Joyce (Kerber) Chappell. Although Doug lived in the greater Grand Rapids area for most of his life, he resided in the Muskegon area for the past 15 years. He was a 1979 graduate of Wyoming Rogers High School and a 1984 graduate of The University of Detroit. Doug worked as an insurance agent, he loved anything to do with basketball, and for the last few years coached at Oakridge High School. Doug was also Supervisor elect of Egelston Township. On May 9, 2009, he married the former Kelly Giddings, and she survives him along with 4 children, Courtney Chappell, Justin (Abby) Giddings, Jay Morris, and Kayleigh Morris; he loved spending time with his grandchildren and was Papa to, Joslyn Rose and Hallie Hunter; 6 siblings, Brian (Ronni) Chappell, Brent (Laurie) Chappell, Deb (Dave) Mokma, Mark (Kris) Chappell, Steve (Cathy) Chappell, Craig (Amy) Chappell, and many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Joyce. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Saturday, September 15 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (4201 Burlingame Ave. SW Wyoming, MI 40509). VISITATION will be 6-9 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444, and 2-4 and 6-9 PM Friday at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraff Funeral Home, 4301 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, MI 49509.
