Our sincere condolences to each of you who loss a great friend as we feel the loss also. We had many great long talks and he so enjoyed his visit when he came top Arkansas. May the many wonderful memories he left with each of help in the healing that is to follow as the warmth comes over you as you smile in fond remembrance of Doug. He and I always had a standing joke about Highway #116 would take you any where as it was connected to any road - well God showed him the roads greatest path was also #116 from earth to heaven - and God only knows what a blessing he is to have him as one of our angels. Prayers of comfort to each of you.

I met Doug when he came to Heartwood Lodge a year ago. Part of my job there was to visit with residents. Doug and I were immediately drawn together by our love for the LORD and soon became fast friends. We had so much in common- love of music, wolves, nature, art, humor. Doug was convinced God still had a purpose for him here on earth and it just wasn't his time to go Home. I believe part of that purpose was to help me along my healing journey. He was a constant encouragement and inspiration to me. His wisdom, insight and unshakable faith in God lifted my spirits every day, even as he lifted me up in prayer. He was a faithful prayer warrior. First thing every morning he talked to God about everyone he knew, especially Tammy and Tracie. The Bible says laughter is good medicine! And Doug's sense of humor and quick wit certainly lifted my spirits during some very dark days. As I am sure he has done for so many others! God has richly blessed me by bringing Doug into my life. I met Doug at Zelenka Nursery back in the 1990s and became his supervisor. He proved to be both a great worker for me AND a friend. I truly appreciated his enthusiasm for learning new things. He had a remarkable memory for details. When we recently re-connected, he told me several things that I sure don't remember! Doug met my wife, Irene, only a time or two, but remembered her well and spoke kindly of her. He admired her artwork,. and we are glad we were able to share some of it with him.

Doug will be missed. I am so thankful he came back into our lives recently. So sorry the time was too short, but God's plans are not our plans. I helped Doug discover some new things in nature. I'm sure right now he is out there discovering new things in his Heavenly home.
