Dr. Charles "Tom" Kelso's Obituary
Dr. Charles “Tom” Kelso, age 83, of Spring Lake passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. He was born November 23, 1934, in Wilkinsburg, PA to Daniel M. and Adele (Rose) Kelso. He met and fell in love with Barbara Wilson on a blind date during a snow storm in Philadelphia, PA and they were married on June 8, 1959 in Wilmington, DE.
Tom graduated from the University of Virginia in 1956, and Jefferson Medical College in 1960 obtaining his Medical Doctorate Degree in Pathology. He also served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. Tom served the community as a Pathologist for Mercy Hospital for many years. His other interests were skiing, golf, playing bridge, photography, model trains, traveling, reading, boating, and music, playing his clarinet in several community bands. Most of all spending time with his family and friends was very important to him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara L. Kelso of Spring Lake; children, Chuck (Jackie) Kelso of Spring Lake, Curtis (Charlotte) Kelso of Cave Creek, AZ, and Leslie (David) Ball of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren: Courtney (Alex) Kelsch, Lauren Kelso, Sean Kelso, Rhys Kelso, Quinn Kelso, Marcia Ball, Nathan Ball, and Kristen (Nathan) Black; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Black and Jackson Black. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Adele Kelso, and his sister, Sue Kelso.
