Duane Franklin Buckner's Obituary
Mr. Duane F. Buckner, age 67, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home. He was born December 16, 1942 in Muskegon to Ward M. and Josephine (Vacek) Buckner. He graduated from Muskegon High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam War. Duane was currently employed as the Sullivan Township Clerk. Prior to that, he owned and operated several businesses including the 46 Bar, 500 Guns and Barnes Hardware. He also served on many committees and organizations for Muskegon County which included President of the Township Association, Fair Board of Directors, Secretary of the Building Authority, Land Bank member, Wastewater Hunt Committee, Chairman of the Memorial Day Committee, Chairman of the Veteran Affairs Committee. He also served on the Whitetails Unlimited Committee, Viet Nam Veterans of America #31 Board of Directors, U.S.S. LST 393 Board of Directors and was one of the co-founders of Sportsmen for Youth. He was an active member of the American Legion 09, Whitetails Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, Fruitport Eagles, Polish Union, Masonic Lodge, Big Bear Sportsman’s Club, life member of the V.V.A. #31 and a life member of V.F.W. 3734. SURVIVORS include: 1 son, Duane D. Buckner of Ravenna; 2 daughters, Penny (Tony) Coutee of Dry Prong, LA and Ginny (George) Lowe of Ravenna; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor and Camryn Coutee, Dallas, Dakota and River Buckner, Joshua, Kari, Emalee, Abby and Corey Lowe; 3 brothers, Evert (Alice) Buckner, Elroy (Linda) Buckner and Dennis (Peggy Stanton) Buckner all of Muskegon; 1 sister, Virginia King of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Monday, 12:00 p.m. at Central Assembly of God, 896 Home St., Muskegon with Rev. Amberley Kerr officiating. VISITATION will be Sunday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at
