Edmund J. Emlaw's Obituary
Mr. Edmund J. Emlaw, age 85, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born November 6, 1918 to Frank and Mabel (Anderson) Emlaw in Muskegon and was a lifetime resident. Mr. Emlaw was a 1937 graduate of Muskegon High School. On April 11, 1942, he married Betty Galajda, and they survived 62 years of marriage. Edmund was employed by Kaydon for 47 years before retiring in 1981. After his retirement, he continued to work for Kaydon as a consultant engineer until 1989. He was an ardent salmon and trout fisherman, enjoyed golf, bowling, and all types of hunting. He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, where he ushered and counted money for 28 years. Survivors include his wife, Betty; 1 son, Thomas Emlaw; 1 daughter, Janis (Larry) Carvey, all of Muskegon; 4 Grandchildren, Capt. Daniel Emlaw, U.S. ARMY, Joshua Emlaw, both of Florida, Kristy and Kelly Carvey, both of Muskegon; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Jalen Burks of Muskegon and Ashleigh Emlaw of Florida; and 1 sister, Janice Gunansky of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, James Emlaw. A FUNERAL MASS will be held 11 AM Tuesday at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Marian Chapel with Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons officiating. VISITATION with the family will be tonight from 7-9 PM at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.
