Edward Boersema's Obituary
Mr. Edward Boersema, age 97, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009, in Muskegon. He was a life resident, born July 18, 1912 to Cornelius and Beuke (Klein) Boersema. Ed was a graduate of Muskegon High School and worked as a Mail Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service on the Grand Rapids to Chicago rail-run for 30 years, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending the summers at the YMCA’s Camp Pendalouan, where for 65 years he served as a counselor and camp assistant. Ed was personally honored by having Camp Pendalouan’s beach named “Boersema Beach” on June 6, 1982. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II; and a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include 3 nieces and 2 nephews, Betty (Jack) Boot of Daytona, FL, Melva Kuerth of Grand Ledge, MI, Mary (Bill) Ring, Ben Cousineau and Raymond Wheeler of Muskegon. Ed was preceded in death by his sisters, Ida Cousineau, Ella Lupher and Minnie DeLong and by his brother, Harry Boersema. SERVICES will be held 2 PM Monday, November 2, 2009 at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church (695 Allen Avenue) with the Rev. Robert Bierenga officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may meet the family one-hour (1-2 PM) prior to the service.
