Edwin A. Reschke's Obituary
Edwin “Ed” Arthur Reschke, age 84, passed away in Fruitport, MI, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Ed was born on March 6, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to his parents Reynold and Hulda (Lucht) Reschke. Ed grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lane Tech High School, then went on to receive his Master’s of Science from The University of Illinois. Ed was proud to have been an Eagle Scout when he was younger, where he developed his love for nature.
As a boy scout and eventually an Eagle Scout he would attend summer camp at Owasippe Scout Reservation in Whitehall, MI. His love for this area would eventually lead him to pursue a career in the area. Ed worked as an instructor at Muskegon Community College for over thirty years, teaching biology, anatomy, and physiology. He was a talented photographer and traveled all over the world taking photos that would be published in many magazines, journals and textbooks over the years. He was proud to have over 7,000 images listed on Getty Images. He also enjoyed fishing, bird watching, good bakeries and was a long time Chicago Cubs fan. He passed his hobbies and love for nature and travel on to both his sons.
Ed will be lovingly remembered by his longtime travel partner and significant other, Mary Chase; two sons: Gerald and Steve Reschke, and their significant others, Gail Salazar and Kim Hirai; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herbert Reschke.
A MEMORIAL VISITATION will take place for Ed from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
