Edwin R. Katt Sr.'s Obituary
Edwin Richard Katt Sr., age 80, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at a local care facility. He was born August 16, 1928 to John J. and Reka (Ruiter) Katt in Ferrysburg.
Ed worked for Prudential as an insurance agent and previously had worked for Challenge Porcelain and later as a currier for Bank One. He was a former member of the Ferrysburg Church and Spring Lake Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed Bible Study at Evergreen Village and being involved with prison ministry. Ed enjoyed fishing, golf, both Detroit sports teams (Tigers and Lions) and spending time with his family every Saturday morning for breakfast.
Ed is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Ronnie) Flick of Broken Arrow, OK, a son, Gary (Lynn) Katt of Grand Haven, 3 grandchildren: Michelle (Jeremy) Louters, Joshua Katt, Laura Katt, 2 sisters, Swannie (Edward) VanderMeiden-Ruhlig of Grand Haven, Marge DeHeer of Grand Haven, a brother, Don (Lois) Katt of Spring Lake and several nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his son, “Eddie”, his wife Pat, a sister, Stella Katt, 4 brothers, John, Gerrit, Claude and Harold.
The service for Ed will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Rev. James VanderMeiden officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials to Samaritan Carriage in Grand Rapids or Muskegon Rescue Mission are appreciated.
