Eldon R. "Al" Hibbs' Obituary
Mr. Eldon R. “Al” Hibbs, age 80, passed away on May 11, 2014 at home. He was born on March 20, 1934 to Herbert and Luella (Riley) Hibbs in Muskegon. Al served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a gold card member of veterans. He also was a member of the VFW Post 3195. Al worked 38 years at SD Warren prior to his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed working outside doing yard work or gardening along with woodworking. On May 4, 1957 he married Phyllis Mahn and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Marlene (Dennis) Steele and Terri (Larry) Dunnewin; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; 3 brothers, Herbert (Connie) Hibbs, William (Pat) Hibbs and Terry (Phyllis) Hibbs; 2 sisters, Evelyn (Dale) Brown and Peggy (Jim) Ranger and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Hibbs and brothers, Robert and Ronald Hibbs. FUNERAL SERVICE and Military Rites will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 16, 2014 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Ken Vanderlaan officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. MEMORIALS can be directed to VFW Post 3195 in Norton Shores. BURIAL will take place Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
