As a child, we spent countless weekends at Grandma’s house. She taught me how to play scrabble (somehow we would always tie or I would win), baked my favorite banana bread, and then we would go watch the sunset at the beach. As I got older, the weekends became fewer, but Grandma never stopped being a huge part of my life. She kept up with every step in my life, and always reminded me of her love.

I hope to also live such a full and impactful life, just like my grandma. I will miss you so much.

Today I received a beautiful gift from my Mother from her heaven’s home. I opened the back door to the porch, and standing still yet looking directly at me, was a dove. I said hello and wondered if the bird was injured. I sat down right next to that dove for around 20 minutes. When I stood up, the dove hopped down the three steps in tandem with me. Then, it occurred to me that this dove was a sign or gift from my mother. Doves symbolize peace…ah, Mom is at peace and it was comforting and a beautiful moment that I will always cherish. Until we meet again…
