Eleanor Louise Wiewiora's Obituary
Eleanor Louise Wiewiora, age 81, of West Olive went home to be with her loving Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was born May 20, 1940, in Kalamazoo, MI to Marvin and Vivienne (Ervin) Hart. After high school she attended Borgess Hospital School of Nursing, and later, Schoolcraft College to become a registered nurse. Her passion was working with the elderly at Nightingale West and Shore Haven Nursing Homes.
Eleanor married her loving husband of 39 years Stanley C. Wiewiora on July 16, 1960, at St. Margaret’s Church in Otsego, MI. Both were members of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church. Eleanor’s passion after retirement was staying active with the church, especially Stephen Ministry, enjoying her large family, and outdoor gardening.
Eleanor is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Suzanne (Michael) Sloumski, Stephanie (Michael) O’Hara, and Mary Tompkins; three sons: Stanley (Veronica) Wiewiora, John (Shelly) Wiewiora and Thomas (Elizabeth) Wiewiora; fifteen grandchildren: Michael (Racheal) Wiewiora, Rachel (Matt) Boukamp, Joseph (Kelsey) Sloumski, Brett (Stacy) Tompkins, Ashley (Justin) Hacker, Thomas (Sierra) O’Hara, Brendon (Kelli) O’Hara, Tyler (Marie) Wiewiora, Evan (Katie) Wiewiora, Haley Wiewiora,Nicholas Wiewiora, Nolan Wiewiora, Paige Wiewiora, Brooke Wiewiora and Evan Wiewiora; twelve great-grandchildren: Arianna, Marissa, Wyatt, Jayson, Brycen, Sawyer, Grace, Jameson, Aidan, Eleanor, Juniper, and Rowan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley on December 20, 1999, three brothers, Douglas, Robert and Walter, son-in-law, Chris Tompkins, and sister-in-law, Reiko Hart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Schwartz as celebrant. Friends may meet the family on Friday, November 26, from 4 – 7 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at The VanZantwick Chapel. Interment will be in Historic Cemetery. Memorials to Elara Caring Great Lakes Hospice, American Lung Association or St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church are appreciated.
