Eleanor M. Steigenga's Obituary
Mrs. Eleanor M. Steigenga, age 83, passed away after a long illness on January 26, 2004 in Muskegon. She was born on June 25, 1920 in E. Chicago, Indiana to Charles & Anna (Anderson) Oland, and had resided in the Muskegon area for most of her life. Mrs. Steigenga had worked at Hardy-Herpolsheimer’s, Eastown Service for 28 years, as a secretary at Hope Reformed Church and Wolf Lake United Methodist Church, and most recently for the Red Cross. She was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church, after being confirmed and attending Samuel Lutheran Church for many years. On June 21, 1941, she married Gerrit “Bud” Steigenga and he survives her along with 1 son, Charles (Dorothy) Steigenga of Rockford, MI; 2 grandsons, Gary Steigenga, Andrew Steigenga; and 2 nieces, Cheryl Korwes and Lori Cilla, both of Minneapolis, MN. Mrs. Steigenga was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Doris and Aline. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at Forest Park Covenant Church with Rev. Russ Carlson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and 1 hour prior to the service at church.
