Elizabeth "Betty" M. Siegel's Obituary
Elizabeth M. “Betty” Siegel, age 95, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at her home in Frisco, TX where she had resided with her son the past 4 years. She was born November 18, 1923 in Muskegon to Frank and Mary (Hafner) Galoit. On May 4, 1946, she married Donald W. Siegel in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2007. Betty worked over 30 years as a secretary for Mona Shores High School and retired in 1986. Betty was a long-time member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Women’s Auxiliary at VFW # 8846. Survivors include 3 children, Rod (Jeanne) Siegel, Cheryl (Steve) Veltman, Don (Lena) Siegel; 6 grandchildren, Jodi (Duane) Witham, Alec (Sarah) Siegel, Kim Sawyer, Jim (Alisa) Weatherbee, Jason (Carmen) Weatherbee, Janell (Chris) Carr; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; 1 daughter, Roxie Jenkins; and 2 grandchildren, Julie Potts and Jeremy Weatherbee. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Rev. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
