Elmer F. "Pete" DeTiere's Obituary
Mr. Elmer F. “Pete” DeTiere, Jr. passed away June 23, 2005 at his residence in Fayetteville, NC. A former resident of Albany, NY, Muskegon, MI, St. Paul, MN, and Rochester, NY, he was born in Albany to Elmer and Ethyl (Lansing) DeTiere July 26, 1917. He attended schools in upstate New York and graduated from MIT in 1939. The passing of Pete DeTiere, loving father, grandfather and husband, marks yet another loss of one of America’s Greatest Generation. Pete proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant (jg). He met and married the former Marie Stuyvenberg of Muskegon, MI who pre-deceased him in 1998. As an engineer, Pete last worked at Rochester Products Division of General Motors and was instrumental in the development of fuel injection for the Corvette and other GM cars. He is survived by his son (Joseph), daughter-in-law (Samarng), four grand-daughters (Parichat, Suchada, Maliwan and Joanne), two great grand-sons (Richard and Alexander), sister (Doris Lobdell), sons-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 27, 2005 at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-7 PM this evening at
