I met Elva when we placed my mother in an apartment next door to her. She was kind and thoughtful from the start. I spent many moments talking with her about her life. I was impressed with her service to our country and her years as a nurse. But most of all I was impressed by the fact that she was still making quilts at 94. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all special to her. She would take a long walk around the halls and lobby after she ate her supper. Another great accomplishment she was proud of. I enjoyed talking with her. We had to move my mother to another facility and she too recently passed away. I lost touch with Elva. But I will never forget her.
