This is a message of sympathy from Barb Young McKenzie and Bob McKenzie. I met Elvira through her Aunt Ella Butterfield. Elvira was a very important part of Ella's life. This was especially true after Ella could no longer drive and entered assisted living. Ella was so appreciative of Elvira's care. Bob remembers both Elvira and her late husband, Bill because his in-laws lived across the street from them on Memorial Drive. Bob's daughter, Julie now lives in that house.
Allison, It was such a pleasure getting to know you and your grandma during the few months I assisted her and you. She makes lasting impressions that is for sure. May you find your peace and strength in all the fond memories. Hugs, Julie Kitchen
It's difficult to pick out just one thing about "Grandma" Dykstra. She had an easy, "I've known you forever" way about her. We shared the scenes of the plays and Maple Tree Graduations, as well as a few Birthdays of our grandchildren, grand and great-grands. Not only was she always there but she smiled and chatted with me and others while the mother's were busy ushering children around.
You already know how special she was....I just wanted to let you know how much her presence meant to me over the years. May God help you through these difficult times and bring you peace.
