Mrs. Elvira H. Dykstra's Obituary
Mrs. Elvira H. Dykstra, (nee Butterfield), age 96, passed away Sunday morning, April 12, 2015, at Harbor Hospice Poppen House in Muskegon. She was born June 24, 1918 to Royal and Mary (Holmes) Butterfield, and was a life resident of Muskegon. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, North Muskegon Chapter of Red Hats Society, and had been an active member of Community United Methodist Church. Elvira enjoyed being a homemaker, and loved surrounding herself with family and friends. She married Wilfred “Bill” Dykstra, Sr. on May 17, 1941, and her survivors include their three children: Wilfred “Bill” (Sonja) Dykstra, Jr. of Fremont, Larry (Rita) Dykstra of North Muskegon, and Deborah Burch of Muskegon; five grandchildren: Matt (Nathalie) Dykstra, Heather Balcom, Dawn Karlsen, Allison Balcom, and Clayton Burch; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and a very special niece, Donna (John) Hill of North Muskegon. Elvira was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Dykstra, Sr. in 2006; a daughter, Mary Lynn Dykstra in 1943; grandson, David Royal Dykstra in 1989; great-granddaughter, Jasmine Dykstra in 2009; and her sister, Dorothy Butterfield Kenney in 1959. A Memorial Service will be held for Mrs. Dykstra at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Community United Methodist Church, 1614 Ruddiman Ave., North Muskegon, with Pastor Phil Friedrick officiating. Visitation with her family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday, at the Church. Memorial contributions to Harbor Hospice would be appreciated.
