Dear Thomas, Teresa, Wayne and Ann and family,
My condolences and sympathy for the loss of your father. I know he had a difficult time the last few months. Now he is at peace and is with God.
Uncle Red was always bigger than life to me, one who could simply look at you and silence an unruly rambunctious child. But, even as a kid I could always get beyond that outwardly stern visage and see the gentle kind person who was always there. I remember his kindness to my mom and dad when father was going through his last illness. Shortly, after dad passed away Uncle Red was there providing some very needed comfort to my Mom and to Zita and me. His presence steadied all of us.
His care for Aunt Gertrude during her illness was a labor of love, something to admire and respect. I know it broke his heart to see such a beautiful person so helpless. He never complained or said a word about his situation. He simply did his duty to the lady he loved.
In later years as I started to research the family's history he was a big help and sounding board for my ideas and theories. We both, and Mom too were very sad that Aunt Gertrude was too sick to learn of some of discoveries on the family we made. Now Uncle Red is back with Aunt Gertrude and the rest of the family who have already left us, his Mom and Dad and brothers too. Perhaps, it wouldn't be too much to ask, Uncle Red, now that you know what happened to Mary, Gertrude, and Dorothy's grandmother to maybe give me a tiny hint down here as well.
He will be very much missed and I will always remember him as a good God fearing man who always did his best for all of us.
Love,
David, Zita, Donald and Betsy, and Amelia and Joshua##imported-begin##David W. Lasser##imported-end##
