Esther Mae Carlson's Obituary
Mrs. Esther Mae Carlson, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2020. She was born on June 26, 1928 to Edmond and Verl (Smith) Connell in Muskegon Heights. On September 3, 1949, Esther married Donald Carlson and he preceded her death on November 11, 2012. Esther attended Muskegon College of Beauty Culture in 1947 and worked as a beautician from her home. She worked at Sealed Power while Don was away in the War and saved $5,000 herself so they could build their dream home together when he returned home. Esther stayed home to raise her three children and continued her work as a beautician after they were grown. Don and Esther were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church for several years. Esther is survived by her children, Linda (Bob) Hartman, Randy (Mary) Carlson and Brad (Wendy) Carlson; grandchildren, Ross (Stacy Brinegar) Carlson, Jay (Kristine) Carlson, Jacob Carlson and Justin Carlson, along with one great-granddaughter arriving in a few weeks. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edward (Marilyn) Connell, Vernon Connell and Phyllis (Carl) Erickson. The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff at Sanctuary at the Park for all the care and compassion shown to Esther. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 20 at 11AM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Sanctuary at the Park.
