I remember being upset to be “chosen as a boy” dance position and Jerry is one of the first people to console me and tell me I could do it and I could do it as good as any boy out there! He gave me confidence to stand up with the likes of the Slovinski brothers and the Jones’ and LaFave sisters. He was such a huge piece of me wanting to stick it out and be able to prove to myself that I was not going to fail. I truly loved and respected ‘uncle Jerry’ and would always see him around town after graduation from the dance hall. He never missed a chance to share his signature “fix anything” hugs and kind words. His smiling face has uplifted me on many occasions no matter the situation.
