I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the family of Florence Lofquist. She was really the only Aunt I got to know well during my lifetime and she was the BEST! When I think of Samuel Lutheran Church, I think of Aunt Flo. Her presence at church is already missed. She assisted for many years in the Summer Vacation Bible School program with me and one year we planned a carnival theme. I have a video of her doing the Chicken Dance and Macarena in the church parking lot! So not only did she polka well, she could move to any beat! I'm also going to miss seeing her at the Ammond Family Christmas gatherings. She had a special glow (especially with a Santa hat on her head) and she brought the true meaning of family togetherness to the party--We all loved her dearly. I'll miss her beautiful smile and and her rice pudding! I can remember taking her to Kruse Park at Lake Michigan one summer day and we decided to climb the wooden stairs to look over the dunes. I was worried about her, but to my surprise, I couldn't keep up with her!! She had a strong heart that was full of gold! I remember shopping for clothes for her 90th birthday party and she never seemed to tire out (of course--she loved clothes--the more, the better!). I also remember helping clean her apartment one day and after being there for 6+ hours, Sherri came by and realized we really didn't get a whole lot accomplished--We spent a lot of time reminiscing and it was pretty hard to get her to dispose of her special "treasures". She had a talent for being creative with things, including writing poetry and drawing and sometimes revising photographs with a pen (like drawing in sun glasses). Bowling was a passion that she and my mom both shared, as it was a family tradition started from their father. It was tough losing my mom when I was only 26 and I'll always remember Aunt Florence being there by my side praying with me when my mom was sick. She was very quiet, yet comforting. She never wanted to be the center of attention, but never wanted to be left out of a party either! She was always along for the ride and was a treat to have there. I thank the Lord for giving me so many fond memories of Aunt Florence and although my heart aches today and I miss her alreay, I know someday we'll meet again in a better place. With loving thoughts and prayers from her neice, Sally.##imported-begin##Sally White##imported-end##
