Forrest Wayne Austin's Obituary
Forrest Wayne Austin, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at a local nursing home. He was born December 14, 1917 to Alfred and Letia (Pierson)Austin in Ottawa County. Forrest had been a tool and die maker for more than 20 years, retiring from Midwest Machine & Manufacturing in 1983. Prior to that, he had worked at Kaydon, Shaw Box and Ford Motor Company. Forrest married the former Maxine Rust on June 27, 1942, and she preceded him in death on December 7, 1995. On November 4, 2000, he married the former Mildred Hooker and she preceded him in death on September 4, 2007. He loved deer hunting (Forrest & Lyle’s deer camp) and fishing. He also had a passion for working on cars. Forrest was a long time member of Calvary Church where he served as head teller. Forrest is survived by 5 children, James (Judy) Austin of Topeka, KS, Joanne (Robert) Durham, Jr. of Norton Shores, Jeanne (David) Hanson of Grinnell, IA, Jack (Susan) Austin of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Joseph (Sherin) Austin of Portage, MI; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Vern (YuVonne) Austin and Gerald (Ardith) Austin, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Maxine, and second wife Mildred, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Benny Durham. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Calvary Church (5873 Kendra, Fruitport) with Pastor Terry Fulk and Pastor Jack Austin co- officiating.
