Frances M. Debniak's Obituary
Frances M. “Fran” Debniak, age 92, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2016. She was born December 14, 1924 in Alpena, MI to Frank and Vivian (Szczukowski) Richards. On June 12, 1948, she married Daniel J. “DJ” Debniak in Saginaw, MI and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2012. Fran worked for many years as an executive secretary for the director of the War Production Board during WWII in Saginaw, and prior to her retirement worked 15 years as the sporting goods manager at Meijer. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, loved traveling to Florida in the winters, and also enjoyed reading, sewing, and knitting. SURVIVORS include 4 children: Greg (Gayle) Debniak, Diane (Herb) Strandberg both of Norton Shores, Richard “Dick” (Shirley) Debniak of North Richland Hills, TX, Mark (Kyle) Debniak of Jenison; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Harrison of Norton Shores; many nieces and nephews; dedicated caregiver, Marie Ryder; and her special feline companion, Sassy. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Mary Rita, Patricia, and Catherine; and a brother, Frank. PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE HELD. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
