THE BIG S!
My Grandfather Louie Wasserman and Frank were huge fishing buddies. They both taught me how to Fish as a kid. A year or two after my grandfather passed. I drove from Chicago to Muskegon to pull out my 26' sailboat for the winter. It was late October. I decided to go out for one last sail as I had the entire Muskegon Lake to my self. All the boat have been pulled for the winter.
I came in to Balcom's Cove ramp at night. While trailering the boat up from the water the hook came off and out slipped my sailboat back into lonely Muskegon Lake. I watched the boat slowly float away on its own and didn't know what I was going to do. Probably 15 to 20 minutes later, I see one lonely light sort of heading my way. I holler out to the lonely boat begging for some help to tow my boat over. While he didn't sound too happy about it, he did. The lake was silent except for the old guy cursing at the boat trying to get a line on it. Finally he snagged it and started bring it closer to the dock. As the fisherman's boat started to come closer into view, I noticed the big "S" on the side of the boat. I yell out Frankie!!!??? He replies Neato Nato??? Yes it's me! You saved my boat and saved me probably from being in the chronicle tomorrow!
We laughed and I could only think that Grandpa Wasserman sent his best friend to my rescue.
Will miss you Frankie but know what you and Louie are doing right now... Fair winds..
