Frank Mitchell LeCompte's Obituary
Mr. Frank Mitchell LeCompte, age 84, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on May 29, 1941 to Erwin and Ula (McCullum) LeCompte. Frank graduated from Lakeview High School where he excelled in sports, especially basketball. He continued his education at Kellogg Community College and then Central Michigan University, where he also played on the basketball team. Later in life he received his Master of Arts in Education Administration from Michigan State University. Frank spent the majority of his career as the assistant principal at Muskegon High School. He believed every student could be successful. Early on in his teaching career he enjoyed coaching basketball and track Union High School in Grand Rapids, and later at Muskegon. Frank remained a diehard Muskegon Big Reds and Spartan athletics supporter his entire life, as well as a loyal Detroit sports teams’ fan. He took great pride in attending his grandkids and nieces and nephews sporting events. Frank enjoyed golfing but his true love was fishing. He enjoyed all types of fishing, big lake, small lake, ocean, and rivers. He was known to travel around Michigan visiting many of the local lakes, winter or summer, in search of the best fishing, often searching for perch. He not only loved to fish, but he also loved to host large fish fry’s for his family and friends to share the spoils of his catch. On August 3, 1968, Frank married the love of his life, Judith K. Reyes, and they enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage. Judith survives him along with their son, Chad (Jill) LeCompte; two grandchildren, Michael LeCompte and Elena LeCompte; and many loving family members who he held dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Dage; and brother, Marvin LeCompte. SERVICES for Frank will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 8, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
