Mr. Frederick H. Hering's Obituary
Mr. Frederick Hunter Hering, passed away on Wednesday April 13, 2016. He was born on April 4, 1948, in Grand Haven MI to Ferris and Lois (Seaver) Hering. His parents and a sister, Dawn preceded him in death. Surviving are his two children, Rochelle (Jayson) Robins and Nick (Sara) Wolting; five grandchildren, Rice, Ryann, Brennan, Alex and Zach; 2 sisters, Sandy Hering-Davis and Lynell (Bruce) Wright. He also leaves behind special friends, Ruth (Weber) Waltz and Laura (Bowen) Harken. Mr. Hering was an educator for 27 ½ years; 25 of which were at Oakridge Public Schools. In 1998 he had a below-the-knee amputation and then became a patient advocate for amputees at area hospitals. He was known for his positive attitude and his determination to continue an active lifestyle after the amputation. He continued to hunt, fish, walk, bicycle and travel to many foreign countries using his prosthetic leg. Fred was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church and a MEMORIAL GATHERING celebrating his life will be held there on Monday April 18, 2016 from 6PM-8PM 4861 Henry St. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Lake Harbor United Methodist Church.
