Garrett O. Sturtevant's Obituary
Mr. Garrett O. Sturtevant, age 55, passed away on June 6, 2021. He was just starting his adventurous hike in Glacier National Park in Montana. God had other plans for him. Garrett enjoyed the challenges of hiking the trails in Michigan, notably The Dragon, The North Country Trail, and Porcupine Mountains. He was born on August 28, 1965 to Arthur and Florence (Hostad) Sturtevant in Muskegon. Garrett proudly served his country from 1987-1993 while in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, Garrett started working at Howmet Aerospace Carriers. He is now joined in Heaven with his wife, Dovie, who preceded him in death in October 2019. He is also preceded in death by his parents. Garrett is survived by his siblings, Denise (Ed) Holstege, Rachelle (Ed) Ward, Art (Jean) Sturtevant, and Phillip Sturtevant, along with many nieces and nephews and their families. He also leaves behind Jerome (Nicole) Valero and family and Adam Smith. A Memorial Service will be held 11AM, Friday, June 18 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM.
