Dr. Gary L. Grayson's Obituary
Gary Lynn Grayson, D.D.S., beloved father and grandfather died June 22, 2023. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 28,1940.
Gary graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1958, continued his education at Western Michigan University and graduated from Northwestern University Dental School in 1964. After proudly serving in the USAF as a Captain in the Dental Corp from 1964 to 1968, he began his own dental practice in Fruitport, Michigan where he practiced for 40 years.
Gary raised his family and lived in Norton Shores, Michigan until 2020, when he moved to Haslett, Michigan to be closer to family.
Gary was a lifelong learner who in his retirement proudly attended and earned 54 credits at Muskegon Community College. He had a love of history, astronomy, poetry, reading and cooking.
Gary was always quick with a friendly smile and a witty reply and enjoyed making his family and friends laugh. He was an excellent “Gramps” who was adored and loved by his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his two daughters, Laura (Fritz) Middleton and Diana (Barry) Sauls, his son, Douglas (Marcy) Grayson; and his grandchildren, Allison Middleton, Reese Middleton, Cammi Sauls, Cooper Sauls, Ari Grayson and Dan Grayson. As well as two special friends, Vicky Vigliotti and Megan Essenberg.
He was preceded by his parents Charles Jeffery Grayson and Evelyn Kovar Grayson, his sister Nancy L. Grayson, his brother Bruce C. Grayson, the mother of his children, Nancy J. Grayson, and his second wife Nora E. Grayson.
A small, family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gary’s honor may be directed to Muskegon Community College Student Success Emergency Fund: The Foundation for MCC, 221 S.
