Gary and I graduated from high school together. I recall him as always having a smile on his face.
He and Char were caring and devoted parents. Gary so loved his children- just as he adored all of his grandchildren.
And, as he had done his whole life, Gary lived live "his way" right up until the very end.
Rest in peace fellow class member of the Muskegon High School graduation class of 1964.

To all of Gary's Family: My sincere sympathy for your loss with Gary's passing.
I remember Gary and feel so bad this happened. I worked with Gary for many years and all of us deputies develop a special bond. I think it was the nature of the work we did - besides that, not everyone looks good in brown!!! I remember him as tender hearted and caring about people and animals. He was always the resident expert when someone was trying to remember the name of a song or the artist. After he retired, we saw each other once or twice a year someplace unexpectedly. It was always enjoyable. We'd give quick updates on our lives and share some enthusiastic banter back and forth. The last time we talked we had some fond and playful exchange of teasing remarks and good laughs about "the good old days" during our era of reign at the department - which included other deputies as well - and not excluding those in power over our domain. It seems he was tagged as the Phantom Poet responsible for some mysteriously appearing, unauthorized poem postings on the bulletin board. It was all good! He was so content and rolling along nicely with the ups and downs and full of interest in the future. He sounded passionately proud and interested playing his part in the lives of his grandchildren. For that reason most of all I am the saddest over his life being cut off way too soon. RIP Gary Wayne Skinner. I'll think of times past, our short visits and remember you as a friend. Sincerely, Toni Rose
So sad, so young. Gary was a life long friend of our family. Snowmobiling, motorcycles hay rides and many stories were shared over the years. He will truly be missed. RIP
my friend. Sincerely Ninajo
Gary, you were truly one in a million. I always enjoyed our conversations at work and missed you when you retired. Rest in Peace.
Gary was more my Uncle than my cousin. I called him Uncle Gary. He was always super fun and very cool. My memories include going over to his and Aunt Charlottes house listening to music. It was usually 50's music and there were always cool stereo sound system upgrades going on. We played ping pong a lot and it was usually like a party. Thanks Uncle Gary! Love you! You were he best! Sending love to all of you girls. He loved you very much. Your cousin Karen Thomson
