Lost a good friend Sunday. We met Gene Logan in our community band and found that his mother had lived across the street from us in the Soo! I delivered the newspaper to her and my brother, Dave Lintula, even did yard work there. Gene played in the West Michigan Concert Winds, and the Lakeshore Big Band, and I used to get the WMCW programs printed at Sir Speedy, his print shop. Lots of good memories that I was fortunate to reminisce with Gene a couple of weeks ago. RIP Gene. We'll miss you.

Gene and Laura are such a big part of our church family. I already have missed seeing him in church each week. Our choir will really miss him. It's nice that he led such a productive, full life. Always being available, helping deliver food, working at the kids food basket. It's wonderful that he didn't have to suffer long. We love Laura and know she will have friends and family supporting her always.
Dear Laura and family,
Gene was such a fine man and gentleman, he lived his faith by his caring for others.
I met both of you singing in the White Lake Choir Many years ago.
Then I sat next to Gene in the Winds playing the saxophone. He was such a fine musician. Going to miss him very much and his smiling face.
In Gods Love.

Gene was a good friend of mine in the West Michigan Winds. Gene alway showed concern for others. His presence always enriched those around him. I will miss our talks and making music together. Wishing him and his family peace.Steve Vitto
So sorry to hear of Gene's death, Laura. You will be in our prayers. Ella and DuWayne Purkiss
Gene was my father. He taught me how to mow a lawn, how to ride a bike, how to hold a hammer, to open doors for women. He coached my baseball teams, and instilled the importance and beauty of music in me. When I was a teen, we bonded over the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Legend of Zelda. After he and my mother divorced, Gene and I lived together for a couple years. Just two guys, getting to know each other as adults. It was wonderful, and I think of those days often. During those years, he and I overcame our musical differences and played in the Lakeshore Jazz Orchestra together. Father and son, rocking out to Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Sir Duke. Wonderful memories. He was passionate about his music and his life in the church. While I didn’t share his religious beliefs, he never let it drive a wedge between us. I love you, Papa. While I’m devastated you’re gone, I take comfort in knowing your pain is gone, too. — Cris Logan
