Gene Tietsort's Obituary
Gene Tietsort, age 80, of Muskegon passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 16, 1938 to Earl and Myrtle (Traxler) Tietsort in Fruitport, MI. He graduated from Muskegon Senior High in 1956. He married his wife Ruthanne on May 10th, 1958, they enjoyed 60 years together. He was a lifetime resident of the area and retired from GTE in 1993 after 30 years. He loved golfing and hated yard work, finally in his later years hiring someone to do it for him. He was a member of the Sons' Of Norway golf league for many years. His favorite past time was trading zings with his family while playing cards. He spent many hours with his family and extended family, everyone trying to out-zing the other members of the game. He is survived by his wife Ruthanne (Wilkinson), sons Mark (Anne) and David (Suzanne), granddaughter Amanda (Gary), grandsons Matt (Sara), Nick, and Alex, great granddaughters Raegyn and Vivienne, extended family Tina (Alex), his brother Monte (Helen) and sister Gail (Ben) Sarver, brother-in-law Al Hubbell, sister-in-law Mary Lynn Hartsema (Ron), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl & Myrtle, brothers Jerry and Larry, sisters Elois and Carol. The family thanks Harbor Hospice of Muskegon for their compassionate and loving care of Gene and his family. Visitation will be held at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Should you choose to remember Gene with a memorial, gifts may be given to the charity of your choice, or to Harbor Hospice of Muskegon.
