George W. Beeby's Obituary
George Walter Beeby, age 73 of Traverse City MI, died September 15, 2020 receiving hospice care at his sister Mary’s house.
He was born on August 9, 1947 to Harry and Virginia Beeby in Ishpeming, MI.
George graduated from Michigan Tech University in 1969 with a BS in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University in 1972.
George had 2 wonderful children, Harrison Beeby and Colleen Byrn.
He was an attorney for over 27 years with Cunningham, Davison, Rogers, Beeby and Alward. He was the President of the local bar association and finished his career teaching 10 years at NMC. He served in the Air Force Reserve.
George was an avid cribbage player and proud Packer Backer all his life. Throughout his life he enjoyed biking, sailing, kayaking, and skiing. He was an active member of the Old Town Playhouse participating in many plays as an actor or director. He enjoyed the local music scene in Traverse City and especially Happy Hour with many friends.
George is survived by his daughter, Colleen Byrn and son-in-law Marc of Grosse Pointe, his son, Harrison Beeby of Traverse City and the loves of his life, his grand princesses, Sophie and Madeleine Byrn, his sister, Mary Beeby Eastman and husband Jim of Fruitport and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry George Beeby and Mary Virginia Beeby.
There will be no funeral services at this time due to Covid. A celebration of George’s life will be held later in Traverse City.
Interment will follow at Portage Township Cemetery in Houghton, MI on September 28, 2020, time to be determined.
