George Leo Carter's Obituary
Mr. George Leo Carter passed away into eternity on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Born February 21, 1931 to Victor and Anna (Schmuker) Carter, he lived in the Muskegon area all of his life. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. George then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he served for four years. He worked at Continental Motors for 17 years before going to CWC Textron as a Quality Control Manager, and retired in 1992. George was a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed fishing whenever he could, but especially loved spending time with his family and his granddaughters. George also enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He married his high school sweetheart Zelma (Morris) in 1950, and together celebrated 62 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his wife, Zelma; 3 children, Robert Carter, Pam Carter Miller, and Chris Carter all of Muskegon; 3 granddaughters, Jillian Teufel, Anna Louise Tyler Carter, and Mackenzie Jai Tyler Carter; and sister, Delores Loyselle of Muskegon. George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charlie; and sister, Leeann. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11AM Tuesday at Fruitport CRC with Pastor Bob Pohler officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 and 1 hour prior to the service at church from 10-11AM.
