George G. Spink's Obituary
George G. Spink, age 93, of Spring Lake passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at North Ottawa Community Hospital. He was born July 29, 1923, in Muskegon to Gustav A. and Bertha M. (Jespersen) Spink, and he married Eleanor Mary Heinz on November 24, 1945 in Muskegon. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2003.
George served his country in the Army for four years during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grand Haven for over 50 years, former member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, both of Muskegon. He moved his family from Muskegon to the Spring Lake area in 1955. George worked in the engineering department of the Bastian-Blessing Company retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service. George served as a Boy Scout Leader for 10 years. His other interests were hunting, fishing, roller-skating, and spending time with his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Mary Louise Worth of Hesperia; two sons, Steven W. (Katherine) Spink of West Olive and Michael G. (Connie) Spink of Muskegon; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; thirteen godchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, June B. Gue.
A memorial service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Moritz officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church.
