George A. Wilder's Obituary
George Alfred Wilder, age 64, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015. He was born July 29, 1950 in Muskegon to George Drent and Ramona Jeanne (Clark) Wilder. George grew up in Muskegon and graduated from Oakridge High School in 1968. He married Betty Lee Jacob on February 11, 1983. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was very proud of his service there and continued to be very patriotic throughout his lifetime. George worked for the State of Michigan as a Corrections Officer until his retirement in 2000 at which time he began attending classes at Bay Mills Community College and earned his Associates Degree in Computer Technology Systems. In 2004 he moved to Florida and began working for Pomeroy IT Solutions, Inc., a job he truly enjoyed until the time of his death. George was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lehigh Acres. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to the beach, and attended and supported many of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events over the years. George is survived by his wife, Betty; children: Jeremy (Elizabeth) Wilder of Muskegon, Deanna (Anthony) Mayer of Rudyard, Gretchen Catalfamo of Muskegon, Nicholas (Krystal) Wilder of Naples, FL, and Joseph (Kirsten) Wilder of Lehigh Acres; grandchildren: Aedan and Greyson Wilder; Karlee, Landen, and Levi Mayer; Dominick and Lucas Catalfamo; Keegan, Khloe, and Kaylee Wilder; and Xander Wilder. George is also survived by his brothers: Roger Wilder of Grand Haven, Richard (Terri) Wilder of Muskegon, and Randy (Vanessa) Wilder of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ramona Wilder. Services will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Egelston Twp. Cemetery in Muskegon, MI with full military honors under the auspices of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, which George was a huge supporter.
