I did not know Gerry until he became my dad's roommate at Shorehaven. Something drew me and my sister to visit with him each time we came. He was in obvious pain, and could not always talk for long, but he always tried to smile, talk and joke. Just a couple of days before he passed, we visited with him up in the hospital. He seemed happy, his pain was more manageable, and he could talk longer and with more ease. He told us he would be back to Shorehaven the next day, so we looked forward to seeing him again, but sadly he passed before we were able. Gerry, we so enjoyed your stories, and how you accepted your situation. I will always be glad I took the time to get to know a little about you. My sympathies go out to his family.
