Gerald Malek's Obituary
Gerald Walter Malek, age 62, of Grand Haven (formerly Spring Lake) passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born July 25, 1943 to Walter A. and Stephanie D. (Wrobleski) Malek in Chicago, IL. Gerry grew up in Illinois and served in the Army 1963-1965. Gerald owned Spring Lake Jewelry for 19 years, 1977 – 1996; and formerly worked for his parents’ jewelry business in Naperville, IL, where he learned the art of watch and clock repair. He also was a deliveryman for Braak’s Bakery for 12 years. Gerald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Naperville, IL. In his earlier years he was an avid fisherman; and he also enjoyed playing cards and sports, especially baseball. Gerry enjoyed being part of the Friday morning group that prepared the parish weekly bulletin. Gerry is survived by his daughter Jhaillaine Malek of Nevada and many cousins and friends.
